Krabi Horses

We are now in Krabi - south West Thailand - there is nothing "Krabi" about this place!!

We arrived 2 days ago and have spent the time shopping, relaxing and sunbathing. The resort is nice, it's like a scaled down version of Phuket.

The heat is unbearable, we have seriously debated moving our flights to Oz forward to get to an air-conditioned country!!

Not a lot more to report other than we went horse trekking today along the beach - it is the first time I have ever sat on a horse let alone ride one along the sand!! There was a Thái guide holding the horse's reigns the whole time so i didn't feel to scared..... that was until they took us to the part of the beach where the horses are allowed to go into the water with you on... so we trekked closer to the water when all hell broke loose - we were sinking.... fast.... in quicksand!!!

My horse frantically tried to steady itself but it was too late - I was on the way down.... I landed with a huge thud in the sand, bashed my head, leg and elbow. Thankfully I had a helmet on otherwise i would have been knocked out!! My elbow hurts like hell - i have a huge bandage on and my trousers were covered in wet sloppy sand. Nice.

That's all for now folks! We are heading off to Khao Sok National Park, in between Krabi and Surat Thani if anyone has a map of Thailand, we are going to do an Elephant Trek - I hope this guy doesn't sink....

One last thing - we have both had severe heat exhaustion and I would like to announce one thing.... Love Live British Weather. You guys are so lucky - i am envious of the 10 degress tempartures.

Adios! xx

Swimming with Sharks

So we left Phuket on the boat bound for Phi Phi Island, and it did indeed only take 2 hours, I was amazed at the Thai honesty.... we have come across some right liars!

Phi Phi Island is as close to Paradise as I think you can ever get, after disembarking the boat we were hounded by touts to get us into the best beach bungalows, so we settled for Harmony House at 600B a night...... well it turned out to be the biggest flea pit i have ever stayed in!! It was gross, Em saw a cockroach scurry under the bed and we wouldn't walk bare foot anywhere!! So Harmony House turned in to Hell House.

Oh and I haven't mentioned the swelling..... after getting sunburnt I had an allergic reaction to the Deet - it must have the strongest chemicals ever, not only does it repel mozzies it repels humans!! So, I managed to get some on my face and it swelled up so bad I seriously looked like I had been in 10 rounds with Mike Tyson - I covered up in sunnies and a hat for around 3 days and took loads of anti-histamines, the swelling has finally gone down today.... 5 days later!!

So after we checked out of the flea pit we found the most beautiful beach bungalow ever - it cost a little more but after the last place we didn't mind a bit of luxury.

We spent the next couple of days swimming and sunbathing, we even rented some fins, mask and snorkels to do some snorkelling - it's the first time I had ever done it, and it was fab! We saw lots of little reef fish and the odd small jellyfish. Em even managed to get bitten by one of the little ones called Sgt Majors - we asked at the dive centre and the reason they nip at you is because their job in the sea is to clean up - if you stay still near them they nip you!!

Today we took a boat trip around Phi Phi Island, it cost us 600B for the whole day, which is around 4GBP - it included lunch and access to sea canoes and all the gear for more snorkelling. We visited the beaches of Phi Phi Lea which is uninhabited - the sand was as soft as silk - it was amazing. The coral was great, saw loads more little fish.

The last place we stopped on the boat was at Shark Point.... why you might think - well to swim with sharks of course!! So we all dove in all geared up and followed the Thai guide then he yelled us all over as he could see a shark - so we all swam over and there it was!! A beautiful black tip reef shark - amazing!!!! They are 100% harmless in case you were wondering!!

Forgot to mention the Thai Boxing - we were going to see some in Bangkok but I am glad we waited, as there is a reggae bar on Phi Phi Island which has a boxing ring inside!! There is free boxing every night, so we went to watch a match - it was very violent, then who should appear in front of us - Pritchard and Dainton from Dirty Sanchez!!! They were there to film a show on the next night of them trying Thai Boxing - we were sitting at the table right in front of them!! So we came back the next night and watched them film the show - it was really cool - if any of you watch the show then look out for us!!

Finally, I am uploading some of my photos onto my photobucket website, here is the link:

Phuket

So we arrived in Patong Beach in Phuket (where the tsunami hit) and found it to be very much like Ibiza - although i have never been there!! We stayed for 2 nights in this hotel/shed, and have now moved onto Karon Beach - it is nicer, less touristy but the prices are still more suited to the Yacht Club...

So on the first day in Phuket we headed down to the beach, had a swim in the crystal clear water, and had a sunbathe...... at this point I think the hole in the ozone moved from Australia to Phuket Beach.... i've never been burnt anything like this. I look like I have had botox with tomato juice... my forehead, nose and cheeks have swollen up so much i can't actually smile. There is no way you guys are seeing any photos of Phuket with me in them!!

We have just booked ferry tickets to Phi Phi Island for tomorrow morning, it has cost us 300 baht, around 2 GBP i think. It is supposed to take 2 hours max - lets wait and see shall we??

We are currently staying in beach bungalows across the road from the ocean - they are lovely, we are paying 4 GBP per night, although last night we were lying in bed drifting off to sleep and there were the loudest fireworks i have ever heard just outside our room. We were both too frightened to move - I thought it was gunfire, Em thought it was a tsunami knocking down trees and buildings - when it happened the second time i shot out of bed and opened the door, but there was nothing there - weird!!

Today we have lazed around on the beach, altough i was mummified in towels and sarongs to keep the sun out, we went into the beach and giant waves kept sucking us out to sea and spitting us back on the sand like in Madagascar - it was great fun although i nearly lost my hat which hasn't left my head all day!!

That's enough for now as i hate these foreign keyboards so much.

Bye bye!! xx
